Multi-Functions and Space Saving design

Have a quick look at the following fascinating design. The profession crafts designer manufacture a wooden model, which can perform many functions (dining table, chair with canopy) utilizing minimum space. Such invention is deemed most efficient in utilization of the small available space.

Do you think such new invention can be used widely, especially in commercial, industrial, and residential complexes, in limited space environment?

Do You Think That Practicing Architect with Excellency and Distinctively is Limited to Male Architect!!

The reporter from Roaya, Jordanian Private Satellite Station, conducted an interview with an outstanding young architect,Rasha Al-Shami.Rasha has recently graduated from the Faculty of Architect,The Joradn University with first honor degree. As you observed, Rasha was not intellectually talented, but she has strong will with determinism to enrich he know-how knowledge by keep working hard until she became worldwide architect. Rasha participated in many international design competition and her design was evaluated as 1st rank in two international competitions. Rasha created her peculiar methodology in design by a combination of modernism, linear and parametric theories. Among the major difficulties, Rasha encountered while performing her design, is how to make harmony between a wide range of variables, to make the design functioning effectively and efficiently.

Currently, Rasha is involved in designing a unique project at water site, utilizing NANO Technology to achieve sustainability with monuments.

Finally, I deem that we al the PSU Architect girls should follow Rasha in her methodology for building and enriching our personal capabilities and intellectuality in practicing architect profession.

How do you see Rasha excellency and distinctively in architectural design?

Can female architects compete male ones while practicing the profession?

What Is Green Architecture and Green Design?

Definition:
Green architecture,or green design,is an approach to building that minimizes harmful effects on human health and the environment. The “green” architect or designer attempts to safeguard air, water, and earth by choosing eco-friendly building materials and construction practices.

characteristics:

  • Ventilation systems designed for efficient heating and cooling.
  • Energy-efficient lighting and appliances.
  • Water-saving plumbing fixtures.
  • Landscapes planned to maximize passive solar energy.
  • Minimal harm to the natural habitat.
  • Alternate power sources such as solar power or wind power.
  • Non-synthetic, non-toxic materials.
  • Locally-obtained woods and stone.
  • Responsibly-harvested woods.

conclusion :

In my point of view, the contemporary architects endeavor to apply green design to maximize the uses of daylight and natural reclaimed materials in order to achieve substantial savings in term of energy consumption and cost of construction.

Cubism

Overview of cubism :

  • The cubism was a revolutionary abstract modern style, abanded the western traditional perspective approach.
  • The cubism attempted to respond to new modern technologies,by a new way of seeing.
  • It was invented around 1907 in Paris by Pablo Picasso and George Braque.
  • The Cubists were influenced by art from other cultures, particularly African masks.
  • There are two distinct phases of the Cubist Style: Analytical Cubism and Synthetic Cubism.
  • The Cubists introduced collage into painting.

This fabricated drawing illustrate my cubism work .

How to configure my work :

  • The main concept was inspired from famous cubist Pablo Picasso , Russian Artist Casimir Severinovtch, the painting of George Braques.
  • I selected certain element from the reference cubist paintings. Then I reconstructed the selected elements into a composition of new planes, forms and colors.
  • The Final collage can be viewed from many angles at one time according to the sight and movement. It represents analytical cubist style.

Tips :

  • What do you think about cubism ?
  • How can you interpret the configured elements in the drawings ?
  • Does cubism  free the artist from traditinal constraints and allow him to be more creative and more imaginitive ?

Deconstructivism

What is Deconstructivism?

“Deconstructing is to deform a rationally structured space so that the elements within that space are forced into new relationships” (Samara 122).

It features a lot of chopping up, layering, and fragmenting. Initially, the Deconstructivist architects were influenced by the philosophy and ideas of French philosopher Jacques Derrida. The theory of deconstruction from Derrida’s work argues that deconstruction “is not a style or ‘attitude’ but rather a mode of questioning through and about the technologies, formal devices, social institutions, and founding metaphors of representation” (Typotheque). It is very much history as well as theory. Derrida introduces us to this idea of deconstruction in his book, Of Grammatology. In his theory, we question the idea of how representation dwells in reality.

For Derrida, Deconstructivism was an extension of his interest in radical formalism. In the 1970s, architects that embraced Deconstructivism saw it as a means to assess the supposedly unifying and idealistic ways of the Modern movement, and sought to break apart the concept of classical order and space.

In architecture, Deconstruction attempted to shift away from the restricting “rules” of modernism that involved ideas of “purity of form” and “form follows function” .
“Purity of form” refers to “purism” which is actually a form of Cubism.
The principle of “form follows function” is exactly as its name implies: its idea is that the form or shape of the building or architecture that is being made should be largely based on its intended function.

Deconstructivism essentially opposed the ordered rationality of Modernism.

Conclusion

I explored a bit of the history of Deconstructivism and the artists and concepts that make up this postmodern art movement. “Deconstructing” is about disturbing the way we think about form and ultimately, it is about the discovery of new relationships. In graphic design and architecture, these could be visual and spatial relationships; and by altering and breaking down areas in particular ways, it will influence the way we observe those relationships.

Starchitects !!

In my opinion this video supports the idea of thinking about form rather than function .

What do you think about it ??

New Innovation Tents,Powered by the Sun,can Hrvest Water and Foldup , Originally Intended to Shelter Refugees

1

To provide suitable shelter with dignity for more than 40 million refugees who were obliged to leave their home countries , as a result of increasing wars, especially in Middle East Countries .

To satisfy such increasing need for proper shelters, The Jordanian – Canadian Architect and Designer Abeer Seikaly designed a new a shelter , which allow refugees to weave their lives with dignity .

The new tent is comprised of woven fabric . The shelter is designed to expand to create a private enclosure and contracts for mobility .The tents are provided with build in energy and water supply system to meet fundamental daily needs for the inhabitant refugees.

The outer solar – powered skin absorbs solar energy , which is then converted into usable electricity. The water storage tank on the top of the tent allows people to take quick shower . Water rises to the storage tank via a thermosiphoning system with drainage system to ensure the tent is not flooded .

In my point of , this new light weight , mobile and structure fabric tents can effectively participate in providing healthy shelters for the refugees , to weave their safe environment from turbulence and severe climate . Thus , the refugees can have housing with basic needs power and water to live peacefully with dignity .

Overview :

Do you think such new tent may be adopted by The United Nation to provide healthy suitable shelters for the increasing refugees worldwide ?
